How to welcome your guests to your wedding (with stationery)

Wedding stationery isn’t just about invitations – it continues all the way through to the big day itself. Every detail, from Save the Dates to on-the-day pieces, plays a role in creating a cohesive and memorable celebration.

The welcome experience is where all of your thoughtfully designed stationery comes together to greet your loved ones. It sets the tone for your day, creating anticipation, excitement, and a sense of place. A well-planned welcome makes guests feel valued, cared for, and connected from the moment they arrive – and the right stationery ensures that every element is both beautiful and functional.

Signage: Style Meets Function

Signage is often the first thing your guests will see when they arrive at your wedding, and it’s more than just decorative. Welcome boards, order-of-the-day prints, seating plans, and other signage guide your guests, helping them feel comfortable and confident as they move through the day.

Clear, organised signage encourages a natural flow, reducing stress for guests and ensuring that everyone knows where to go. It also contributes to the overall styling of your celebration, tying together your theme, colour palette, and bespoke design elements.

Some of my favourite pieces include venue illustration welcome signs, floral box signage, and bespoke acrylic boards. These not only greet guests warmly but also create a visual impact that aligns perfectly with the wedding’s aesthetic.

Personal Touches: Small Details, Big Impact

It’s often the smaller stationery pieces that leave the most lasting impression. Personalised seating plans, place name cards, menu name tags, and thoughtful welcome signs can all elevate the guest experience.

For example, designed personalised door hangers for couples guest who are staying at the accommodation to greet them when they get to their a charming touch that felt thoughtful, playful, and completely bespoke. Similarly, little personalised messages such as ‘Reserved for [bridesmaid]’ can make guests feel valued and celebrated, enhancing their experience from the very start.

In every project, my design process balances functionality and aesthetics, ensuring that every on-the-day stationery piece works beautifully while also adding to the overall look and feel of the celebration. These details may be subtle, but they make guests feel genuinely welcome and appreciated.

Real Wedding Example: Ella & James

One wedding where on-the-day stationery truly created a “wow” moment was for Ella & James. Their stationery suite included a venue illustration welcome sign, personalised seating plan, bespoke menu tags, and carefully designed table numbers.

From the moment guests arrived, they felt guided, appreciated, and immersed in the couple’s celebration. The cohesive design of the on-the-day stationery brought the entire venue together visually, creating a welcoming atmosphere that perfectly reflected Ella & James’ personalities. Guests commented on how thoughtful the details were, and the stationery became a talking point throughout the day – proving how impactful considered design can be.
