5 Ways to Make Your On-the-Day Wedding Stationery Beautifully Bespoke
Your wedding day should feel completely you. Every detail – from the décor to the music, the flowers to the menu – tells your story, and your on-the-day stationery is no exception. It’s often easy to stick to standard, “safe” designs, but the beauty of bespoke stationery is that it allows every element to feel personal, thoughtful, and entirely unique to your celebration. From signage to place cards, the possibilities are endless – and each piece can become a moment your guests will remember long after the day is over.
Here are five ways to make your on-the-day stationery beautifully bespoke:
1. Signage: Make a Statement
Signage is often the first thing your guests will see when they arrive at your venue – so why not make it a statement? Beyond the usual welcome sign, think large fabric backdrops, floral installations, or bespoke illustrated venue signs.
One of my favourite projects was for a couple who wanted their venue illustration incorporated across multiple pieces of their stationery – from their welcome sign to table numbers. Not only did it set the tone for their wedding, but guests immediately knew this day was unique to them. Signage is your chance to get creative, have fun, and give your guests a sense of the celebration from the very first moment.
2. Menus: More Than Just a List of Food
Menus are often one of the most handled pieces of stationery at a wedding, so why not make them memorable? Beyond listing courses, bespoke menus can transform your tablescape. Think layered menus, unusual shapes like arches, ribbons, or even cut-outs that match your theme.
I created a layered menu for a couple last year that featured soft vellum overlays tied with silk ribbon – it was so loved that guests kept them as mementoes. The menu doesn’t have to be functional alone; it can be an extension of your style, adding texture, colour, and a little wow-factor to your tables.
3. Place Cards: Delight and Surprise
Place cards are a small detail, but they can leave a lasting impression. Going beyond standard cards, you could create origami flowers, tags with ribbons, or even mini scratch cards for guests to enjoy. The more personal and thoughtful, the more likely guests are to treasure them as keepsakes.
For a winter wedding I worked on, each guest had a beautifully tied ribbon tag attached to a festive favour, which doubled as their place name. Guests loved it – it felt special, considered, and perfectly tied to the couple’s personality.
4. Favours: Thoughtful Touches That Reflect You
Favours are a brilliant way to surprise and delight your guests while showing a little personality. From bespoke Christmas crackers to scratch card pockets, or even handwritten notes tucked into elegant envelopes, there’s so much you can do beyond the standard chocolate or trinket.
One couple had mini scratch cards created to sit alongside their place names – a playful, personal touch that had guests chatting and laughing before the first course even arrived. It’s these kinds of thoughtful details that make a wedding feel truly bespoke.
5. Keepsakes: Pieces to Treasure Beyond the Day
Some bespoke pieces don’t just live on the day – they can become cherished mementoes for years to come. Think framed venue illustrations, statement signage, or even guest sign boards that can be displayed at home.
A couple I worked with had their welcome sign transformed into a framed piece for their living room – every time they walk past, it reminds them of the joy of their day. Bespoke stationery has the power to create memories that last far beyond the wedding itself.
